Slam dunking slavery

When will we reach peak woke on grievance where it actually doesn’t exist? The NBA has decided that the use of the word “owner” is racially insensitive given most of the basketball players are African-American. The idea is that it has links to “slave owner.” Therefore the use of “governor” is deemed more appropriate terminology for the individuals that legally “own” the team.

Hang on a minute, doesn’t Michael Jordan, legendary black basketball player of Chicago Bulls fame, own, sorry, govern the Charlotte Hornets? Will he get an exemption? Perhaps the NBA should have a quiet word about using blonde white supremacist females to promote his basketball wear as being unfair to models from minority backgrounds? Or could it be he doesn’t give a damn, like many of the basketball players held back by the chains of multi-year multi-million dollar contracts?

Steven Curry must be feeling oppressed by his $201m 5yr deal. Perhaps governors can get around the salary cap by including slavery reparations as a component of pay. It would be unconscionable for NBA Governor Adam Silver to deny such action.

This political correctness is just plain stupid. Silver should be sacked. If there were own-goals in basketball, he’s scored it. Let’s see if NBA attendance falls on the back of this crap.

Identity Politics rejected by those who would seemingly benefit

Quillette columnist Coleman Hughes testified in front of a House Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties on the subject of a bill proposing to conduct a commission into slavery reparations. Hughes’ testimony was not what activists wanted to hear so he was heckled by them.

He argued that such a path would further divide the nation. Such is the scourge of identity politics and the victim mentality.

He was booed when he said, “Black people don’t need another apology. We need safer neighborhoods and better schools. We need a less punitive criminal justice system. We need affordable health care. And none of these things can be achieved through reparations for slavery.”

He went on to describe that reparations were not only divisive, but an “insult to many black Americans by putting a price on the suffering of their ancestors, and we would turn the relationship between black Americans and white Americans from a coalition into a transaction

Reparations by definition are only given to victims, so the moment you give me reparations, you’ve made me into a victim without my consent. Not just that, you’ve made 1/3 of black Americans who poll against reparations into victims without their consent, and black Americans have fought too long for the right to define themselves to be spoken for in such a condescending manner...

The question is not what America owes me by virtue of my ancestry, the question is what all Americans owe each other by virtue of being citizens of the same nation…And the obligation of citizenship is not transactional. It’s not contingent on ancestry. It never expires, and it can’t be paid off. For all these reasons, bill HR 40 is a moral and political mistake.”

Isn’t it ironic how out of touch the political class is when the very people they hope will give them the answer they want to hear do the exact opposite.

Ohio Democrat suggests heartbeat bill exclude African American women

Ohio passed the “Heartbeat Bill” last week to make it illegal to abort a fetus once a heartbeat is detected. State Rep Janine Boyd (D) proposed an amendment that African American women should be exempted from the legislation. It was defeated.

Her argument?

Black slaves were once treated like cattle and put out to stud in order to create generations of more slaves…Our country is not far enough beyond our history to legislate as if it is.”

Note that 70% of Planned Parenthood abortion clinics are located in low income areas. While African Americans are 13% of the population, 37% of pregnancies are terminated. In NY, more black babies are aborted than born.

Who knew that abortion should be race based?

White Nationalism – Candace Owens torches the Democrats

Candace Owens, a black conservative, torched the Democratic Party in front of the House Judiciary Committee. Her aim was to dispel the myths around hate crime (which she noted the mainstream media refused to cover an Antifa assault against her), the black community and the perpetual policy platforms that try to keep minorities, like those of her heritage, as victims.

Her grandfather, who sat behind her, was a victim of segregation but Owens said he never raised her with a victim mentality and always told her to strive for what she wanted. He never once mentioned whites when she grew up. Powerful speech.

CM covered hate crime in charts a few months back. Overall hate crime is sharply lower than two decades ago, in absolute and percentage terms.

CM also covered a race baiting article by the New York Times suggesting unconscious bias in school discipline last year. It wasn’t if one bothers to do the statistics.

Or how the media ignored a Rasmussen Report which found Black Americans feeling better under Trump than Obama.

Or when Nancy Pelosi was hot mic’d telling Andre Wilson to let the audience know he was a Muslim. What relevance was that other than to stir a culture of victim hood?

Or Maxine Waters calling for the left to kick Trump officials from restaurants, gas stands and public places.

How about all those Democrats like Kamala Harris, Maxine Waters and Corey Booker rallied behind Jussie Smollett to cook up fears of rising white nationalism only to live in denial once the narrative was completely debunked? Mad Maxine even supported Smollett after the charges were dropped. Yet the Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson was not laughing.

Would it have suited Waters to have the CPD lie about the hoax to whip up more division to feed a narrative that is on the decline? Exactly who is dog whistling?

We need more Candace Owens in the world. Prople that don’t cry for free hand outs because of something that happened before they were born. No doubt she will be branded an Uncle Tom and a sell-out but despite all attempts to shut her down she stands by the content of her character, not the colour of her skin. Bravo.
