Berkeley to drop gender-specific words from city code

Image result for rigel robinson berkeley

Rigel Robinson, a young councillor in Berkeley, California has said that “words matter“. The city will remove gender-specific language like “manhole” and change it to  “maintenance hole.” In his proposal, the words “policemen” and “policewomen” will also be phased out. “He” and “she” will also get the boot in favour of “they”.

Robinson remarked, “Having a male-centric municipal code is inaccurate and not reflective of our reality…Women and non-binary individuals are just as entitled to accurate representation. Our laws are for everyone, and our municipal code should reflect that.

To think of how many non-binary individuals will be able to overcome these deep traumas and get through the day knowing that the metal covers in the road will be renamed. However, what if a maintenance hole identifies as male? Seems unfair that inanimate objects aren’t respected.

Sadly, the only maintenance required is to fill the vacuous space between Robinson’s ears with things that actually matter to residents, even those liberals in California.

Industry gets the management it deserves

What did the Rugby Australia (RA) board expect from Israel Folau? That he’d crawl away into obscurity? CM has long held the RA’s handling of this affair has been about as good as the Wallabies on-field performance under Michael Cheika, the coach with the worst record in the history of the team.

Industry gets the management it deserves. Bad outcomes come from poor decisions at the top. RA CEO Raelene Castle’s performance in this affair has revealed she has no crisis management credentials. If Folau ends up bankrupting RA then management didn’t weigh the risks properly when they terminated him for a supposed “high-level breach”.

Recall RA tried to buy Israel Folau off with a $1m shut-up cheque but his religious beliefs weren’t for sale. Folau reached out to former Wallaby and fellow devout Christian, Nick Farr-Jones, who concluded after an intense grilling that his faith was authentic. Did the board take into account NF-J’s testimony?

The RA’s decision smacks of the spineless virtue signalling that pervades our corporates today. It folds at the first sign of social media activist pressure. It might bang on about “inclusivity” but it practices exclusivity. One wonders if a player from another religion tweeted “apostasy is death” the board would have sung an entirely different tune. It would have said, “we respect all views.

Then we saw the hypocrisy of NRL Chairman Peter Beattie who spoke of the importance of inclusion and freedom of speech (when it comes to players protesting the national anthem) despite affirming that Folau would never play rugby league. So which is it? Whose freedom of speech is free? Beattie even argued that the Folau Twitter post still remained up. If he took it down would the NRL sign him up? Not a chance.

As CM wrote in the last dispatch, RA’s #1 priority does not appear to be rugby. The website is flush with identity politics. Such as this:

MCC works with influential leaders and encourages them to take action towards gender equality.

Rugby Australia is a proud supporter of MCC and our Chief Executive Raelene Castle has recently been appointed as a Special Advisor on the MCC Sport program.

This program aims to enhance the involvement of women in all aspects of sport and works with key stakeholders to achieve pay equity.

What has this got to do with managing the Wallabies franchise? Too much focus on irrelevant things that will not turn around the continual losses in the business because the key ingredient that generates revenue – a winning team is second fiddle.

RA folded at the foot of the sponsor, Qantas. A sponsor has the rights to be represented in certain ways but how little confidence must RA have in its ability to attract new backers? Cricket Australia snagged Alinta Energy after the ball-tampering scenario. CM reckons the Adani Wallabies has a nice ring to it.

RA is not run for its fans. Player David Pocock was arrested and charged for chaining himself to a piece of heavy equipment but Folau was fired for quoting a passage from the Bible.

It is quite likely that Folau’s bid in the High Court will succeed. Our constitution enshrines free speech. Whether we like what he said or not is irrelevant. We either support it or we don’t.

Maybe RA needs a total clean out? Perhaps sending in the receivers would see the appointment of someone who loves the game and reconnects with the fans, not waste time trying to enforce identity politics on them.  RA was set up for one purpose. To win.

Why not look at the yardstick of attendance? Why is it since 1962, Eden Park in Auckland is always at full capacity when the beloved All Blacks play? Because the team is so dominant. Why is attendance at Stadium Australia at 65~80% of available seats when it used to be 100% in 2002-2009? Why have Super Rugby attendance figures slumped t to around 11,000 per game vs 35,000 for Aussie Rules and 15,000 for NRL? Even A-League soccer gets average game attendances of 12,500. There is a message here RA. You are not connecting with the flock.

Perhaps Izzy Folau is reciting in prayer for the fans;

For I know the plans I have for you…plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11

Castle tackles inclusivity with exclusivity

The board of Rugby Australia (RA) has capitulated at the altar of political correctness. CEO Raelene Castle unconvincingly announced the reasons why Israel Folau’s contract has been terminated. This is a board that acted on external activism. It buckled. Castle squirmed around the question of whether sponsors had applied pressure or not. What Folau said was unnecessary but how is it other players can get arrested and get away with a written warning?

Ultimately, RA will feel the wrath at the ticket office from already disgruntled paying fans. Attendance continues to slide. RA losses are expected for 2019 following the losses in 2017. The 2018 profit was merely due to an exceptional item. Perhaps Folau’s termination will help plug the hole in the P&L. No wonder losses are being made, given the pitiful performances led by a man with the worst record of any Wallabies coach. Why is he still there?

Australia will be lucky to make it beyond the quarterfinals at the Rugby World Cup in Japan this year. Yet the CEO and board tolerate his woeful record. CM has long argued Michael Cheika can’t unite that team. His record proves it. His team rally behind him publicly but their faces tell a different story.

Castle is out of her depth. She might have cried inclusiveness but there was no conviction in the press conference. Inclusiveness, to many of those on the left, is limited to whatever they prescribe. Stray from the party line and get excluded. Her eyes said it all in the press conference – she is definitely no crisis manager.

Folau, on the other hand, didn’t accept a $1m buy off to walk away so RA could wash their hands of the matter. He stuck and continues to stick to his faith. Hopefully, he takes it all the way to the High Court to leave RA with more egg on its face.

Let’s be clear. Folau hasn’t called for violence against homosexuals. Yet why is it just that group that is singled out as victims? CM ticked a few boxes on his tweet. Surely CM’s right to feeling oppressed is just as valid on the faux outrage scale. Where are the drunkards, adulterers and fornicators calling for his head? Nowhere. With good reason. Because 99.9% of people probably rolled their eyes at the tweet and moved on.

Look at RA’s Male Champions of Change (MCC) program. This is the focus of RA and it is not rugby. RA’s website openly states the following,

What on earth could have possessed RA to hire an activist as CEO? Castle also promotes on the RA website:

I have seen the challenges first hand and I have a personal passion to ensure that the gender equality discussion is at the forefront across all aspects of our society.

Quite frankly 99% of her customers couldn’t care less about RA’s stance on gender equality nor the group’s wish to drive it across society. They want to see good rugby. They d not see it as RA’s job to tell them how to behave. RA is answering questions nobody is asking.  If female coaches are better than the males, no male rugby supporter will care if the team is quite literally putting scores on the board. No one needs or wants RA’s activism which also extends to male domestic violence. How about female domestic violence against men? Take a look at the stats. Let’s just beat up on toxic masculinity because it is easier.

Where was the board when Wallabies flanker David Pocock encouraged school kids to join the climate strike or retweeted posts mocking climate skeptics? Is his climate activism ranked above Folau’s quoting of a religious text? Did RA do anything when Pocock was arrested for chaining himself to an excavator for 10 hours at the Maules Creek mine? He was charged with “trespass, remaining on enclosed land without lawful excuse and hindering the working of mining equipment.” Raelene Castle wasn’t CEO at the time but Cameron Clyne, Paul McLean and Ann Sherry were and still are board members. Where is the balance in sanctions handed out?

Let’s not forget the double standards of Pocock. He can find it in his heart to play for a team that is sponsored by Qantas which emits more carbon dioxide per passenger-kilometre than any other airline operating across the Pacific, according to an analysis by the International Council on Clean Transportation. Oh, the irony that he also happily played for a team that was sponsored by gas-guzzling Land Rover SUVs. Nary a peep from the climate activist when it lines his pockets.

What will the other devout Christian Pacific Islanders do? Will they leave the Wallabies en masse? They’re good enough to find homes in other sides. The Japanese would welcome them.

If the RA board think they’ve reached a moral high ground in this decision they’re seriously mistaken. Trying to pay him off was the first big mistake because his faith trumped their expediency. They thought he was all bluster, just like the players who threatened to boycott the team if he remained. Folau wasn’t for sale.

CM has repeatedly said that Folau’s remarks in a public forum were unnecessary but defends his right to say them.

Castle’s decision is a perfect representation of the growing trend of allowing virtue signaling to infect a board which will spectacularly backfire. This is no different to Gillette, Colgate and other brands trying to do moral preening. People want the product. Start throwing lashings of political correctness and watch customers desert them. Footy Show anyone? Trying to be a ‘woke’ corporate is the closest thing to sleepwalking off a cliff.

Environmental justice through feminism

WEN.jpeg

Hold on, folks! It wasn’t so long ago that Dr. Aaron Brough of Utah State University conducted the study to see if there is a correlation between toxic masculinity and climate change. His assumptions ran the line that men see environmentalism as more feminine and get triggered if forced to make ecological choices if they feel threatened. So fear not. The Women’s Environmental Network (WEN), “working for environmental justice through feminist principles” will save us! WEN is staging the ‘Mothers Climate March‘ on Mother’s Day in London. With any luck, Mother Nature will rain on their parade.

WEN states, “Mothers Rise Up! We have just 11 years act to prevent climate breakdown. The time to act is NOW!…We will come together and rise as a maternal force to be reckoned with. With pushchairs and song, we will march from Hyde Park Corner to Parliament Square and demand that our government take immediate, drastic action for a just transition to a sustainable way of life…We will hold a powerful ceremony of speeches and song and together begin to forge a future worthy of our children. Bring decorated pushchairs (empty or occupied), your children’s paintings, banners, your incredible voice, creativity and energy.”

Didn’t Westminster just roll over and declare a “climate emergency“? Are empty wheelchairs supposed to represent something? Hopefully, we do not have young girls trying to superglue their breasts to the road as experienced in the last Extinction Rebellion rally.

CM thought the link between toxic masculinity was a stretch. Now WEN says “our feminism is environmental. We believe that the fight for gender equality is inextricably linked to environmental justice. These two goals can only be achieved together.” Forget the science, just enact a feminist agenda to save us.

Two ambassadors for the movement are current MPs in Westminster, one representing the Greens and the other Labour.

Late last year CM’s local weekly newspaper we were told that climate change is impacting Fifi and Fluffy. Veterinarian Dr Anne Fawcett noted in the article,

If we love animals, we also need to reduce anthropogenic climate change by using energy wisely, reducing waste and recycling, investing in renewable energy and opting for public transport where possible.”

One can be sure that Fifi the family poodle cares more about her masters returning from work ASAP rather than trying to save the planet. After all, she probably doesn’t have much more than 11 years to live herself so every second is precious.”

Seriously these links to climate change are getting ever more desperate. What on earth has feminism or toxic masculinity got to do with global warming outside the hot air produced by their lunacy? Yet the bigger question is where are our politicians, like CM, calling this nonsense to account? Seems like they have rolled over and played dead. Welcome to socialism via the back door, which everyday now seems via the front.

Comparing gender fluidity in the military vs this 77yo telegram

7C8AF55A-9111-44E4-85CD-E3E4C99EB936.jpeg

While the gender neutral PC brigade strives to prevent hurt feelings by way of compelling correct pronoun usage in the military, perhaps they might reflect on how Lt. Norman Martin Peterson was feeling at the time he telegrammed his wife in 1941. Only true veterans can possibly understand how precious life is when living day in and day out under live fire against people sworn to kill them. They never knew when their number might be up. Yet our top brass want to cloak our soldiers in imaginary verbal flak jackets.

75 years ago, this is what Lt Peterson of the 1st Australian Field Ambulance had to say about the people who took for granted the very freedoms he and his mates sacrificed so much to provide. The military is no place for snowflakes.

“Well on reading about some of the women you were telling me about I feel a loathing for such hypocritical parasites. Is this what men are laying down their lives to protect? I sometimes wish that they could see how a bloke looks like when he is unburied for a couple of months, a skeleton with boots and clothes on, eaten by ants. A grinning skull and shirt black and stiff with congealed blood. Or a few Japs scattered around a shell hole with leg bones protruding from their boots…

…I wonder and think that these bones were a few months ago living people, with their loves and hates, wives and mothers, and sweethearts, posted as missing, they are frequently seen in the jungle, unburied until found. Then I think of the mongrels safe in Australia and having a great time the bastards – pardon my eloquence but I really get worked up over the mongrels that are not worth the little finger of the boys on the job defending their pseudo honour and their miserable little lives.”

When a man can see sadness and pity even for his sworn enemy, it makes one reflect on the horrors of war and why we should spend much more time honoring our military’s  bravery rather than protect cowardice by hiding behind compelled speech indoctrination.

University of Texas to treat unrestrictive masculinity as a ‘mental health crisis’

6782E319-828E-4677-87FF-3DCAA6BA1E38.jpeg

What will they think of next? Why doesn’t The University of Texas (UT) tackle unrestrictive ‘femininity’ as a mental health crisis too? Seems a bit odd in the struggle for gender identity and equality that only masculinity is deemed a problem.  “MasculinUT” is being organized by the school’s counseling staff and most recently organized a poster series encouraging students to develop a “healthy model of masculinity.” The program is built around “restrictive masculinity” and tries to encourage men to drop traditional gender roles to “act like a man”, be “successful” or “the breadwinner.” Arise the unsuccessful breadlosers. The question is whether the UT Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC) will offer post-graduation counseling when these students realize the real world doesn’t operate that way?

Little did I know that the day my parents thrust a Tonka truck in my hands at the tender age of three, they were recklessly setting of a ticking time bomb of traditional masculinity and enforced gender expression. The untold damage they caused by preventing any chance to express my gender identity via experimenting with a Barbie doll and making me wear dresses. Let’s get serious. My parents would recall from as young as two I had a passion for cars and could even rattle off the names of Boltsdragon and Meladies Benz before I could walk. I’ll be damned if loving mechanical things (I still do) wasn’t hard-wired in my DNA from birth. My parents didn’t force it for one second.

So what is a mental health crisis surrounding masculinity?  UT would have us believe it is toxic. Surely the need for pushing restrictive masculity should extend to the animal kingdom too.

Perhaps lions and wolves must be re-educated so that the weaker male lions/wolves in the pride/pack get equal opportunity to sire the females during mating season. Seems a bit wrong that the clear and present mental health issues of the strongest lion in the pack – indoctrinated by the evil, oppressive and overbearing Mother Nature – causes him to feel he can’t delegate such a responsibility to other no less fertile males.  How conflicted he must feel at times? Or could it be that the lionesses (apologies for forcing gender identities here) on heat prefer to be sired by the strongest male in so far as it ensures in her mind she will have the strongest cubs? Surely not a factor? Stands to reason that the raging hormones of the male lion youth get so worked up by their unrestrictive masculinity that they are led to fight the strongest male lion in order to attain sexual dominance. Why is it the strongest male leaves the pride/pack when he’s overthrown by the new kid? Same for marsupials too. Kangaroos have the same rules.

What about unrestrictive femininity? How can the civil rights of male praying-mantises be protected? Is it fair that the female of the species gets away scot-free after decapitating the male after conception? This is murder in the first degree. Mother Nature is far too cruel. She is also sexist given the lionesses do the ‘lion’s share’ of the ‘shopping’ when it is time to feed the family. Something must be done immediately.

Yet think to one’s own youth. Whether male or female it was more likely that your desires were hormonally driven rather than pre formed based on education. Was your first sexual experience guided by a pre-foreplay restricted checklist or was it simply letting unrestricted nature take its course? Was undressing uncomfortable or was the power of pheromones so overriding that it was but an irrelevant detail?

Was it a surprise to see many women at your university ogle, envy or date the fit young men rather than make a b-line to ogle, envy or date the fat slob with no dress sense and poor hygiene? Did you ever experience unrestrictive femininity at play where the girls fought to date the hottest guy and had no compunction in deposing the current girlfriend through every possible means? Trophy boyfriends were just as sought as trophy girlfriends. Survival of the fittest works both ways.

Surely it should come as no surprise that the UT American football coach explicitly looks for the most masculine players for the team. No sense putting a 150lb weakling as a line blocker if he must challenge a 300lb opponent? Will the ‘jocks’ be required to pave way for the ‘nerds’ to satisfy the restrictive msaculinity guidelines put forth by the UT CMHC. Now the coach can say, “we may have lost our exemplary decades long win record team, but I am proud we represent restrictive masculinity!

The irony is that other schools running the program (UNC-Chapel Hill and Northwestern being but two) admit there is no evidence that masculinity itself contributes to violence. So if there is no fact/theory behind the ‘unrestrictive masculinity is a mental health crisis’ it must mean that it is nothing more than an ideology. What a surprise to see the cultural Marxists looking to spread their backward thinking in the classroom.

To the women reading this, would you prefer random men didn’t trigger their unrestrictive masculinity and step in to protect you if you were being assaulted by another man? Social experiments like the video before and the history of how prison inmates deal with rapists and child molesterers shows that real men are deeply protective of their code and any violation is swiftly dealt with.

DNA is a funny thing. To think the UT Dean gives any credibility to the CMHC for pushing such absolute institutionalized snowflakery is beyond comprehension. It is the CMHC that has the mental health crisis, not the other way around. Unrestrictive stupidity is a curse which seems to be spreading wider by the day. May I suggest a StupidUT program?
