Why the left is better at spurring economic activity

You have to hand it to the Democrats. They are truly useful in boosting economic activity. Democratic Party presidential candidate Joaquin Castro thought shaming San Antonio, Texas donors to the Trump campaign might help his cause. One person he made reference to was the owner of Bill Miller Bar BQ. Thankfully San Antonians responded in style. The restaurant has been going gangbusters since. Tailbacks for the drive-thru and lines out the door. A bit like the time the left singled out In-N-Out Burger and Chick-fil-A.

Note that In-N-Out Burger sales surged 11.8% on 1.8% increase in stores. Meaning same-store growth must have been astonishing in F&B terms. Chick-fil-A as we know is the fastest growing fast food outlet in America and #3, behind McDonalds & Starbucks.

Maybe Castro can tell Americans in future debates that he is good for business growth. He has absolute proof of that.

#KamalaHarrisDestroyed

The circular firing squad in full effect. Poor old Kamala Harris didn’t know what hit her. The Dems have to show a united face if they want to defeat Trump. No surprise to see the questions being asked go straight down the identity politics line.

Bernie’s lesson in free market economics

Well done Bernie Sanders. Where he couldn’t pay his staffers the $15 minimum wage he bangs on about so much, he just cuts hours so the total costs won’t change. His comments from the DesMoines Register reveal the holes in his socialist thinking. Higher minimum wages don’t create prosperity if people’s hours get cut as a result.

Greta & Obama

A propaganda picture which would have had a place in Soviet times. A socialist leader Obama looking down on a brainwashed teenager, Great Thunberg, who is unbeknownst being exploited by the intelligentsia.

The picture, while excellent as a stand-alone photo, has a patronizing overtone. The disdain held against those wicked climate skeptics. Had NZ PM Jacinda Ardern been in it, the leftist dream team would have been fully assembled. Although her 2050 zero emissions plan has been independently costed and its outrageous.

Obama better not tell Greta Thunberg about the disastrous Solyndra scandal otherwise those crossed arms might end up being for him.

Solyndra was an Obama era solar darling that the Inspector General’s Office, after more than four years of investigation, concluded that company’s senior management used inaccurate information to mislead the Department of Energy (DoE) in its $535 million loan. Soon after the fees landed, Solyndra declared bankruptcy.

Perhaps Greta should be speaking to Bjorn Lomborg to get a proper education on the real price of costing her plans for climate change.

Gender pay gap in US soccer?

US Democratic Senator Kirsten Gillibrand railed at the gender pay gap between the US Soccer men’s team and women’s team after the latter thrashed Thailand 13-0.

Democratic Senator and perennial identity politician Elizabeth Warren also chipped in with her slant on things about how it is high time to address the pay gap!

Former Republican Senator Orrin Hatch asked the U.S. Soccer Federation to “end this two-tiered, gender-based structure that has unfairly discriminated against female athletes.”

Before US senators took to bashing the US Soccer Federation (USSF), a quick look at the Annual Report for 2018 reveals that “expenses” on the national women’s team were higher than the men’s.

By the numbers, women’s expenditure grew 25% to $17.13m in 2018 over the previous year while the men’s slid 35% to $14.63m (down from $22.43m in 2017). While expenditures aren’t completely broken down, one can assume that this adjustment includes paying for performance.

When boiled down, the expenses allocated to the women’s national team came in at 24% of overall expenses in 2018 from 18% in 2017. Men fell from 30% of the total to 20% over the same time period.

Unless multiple men’s team players have been sacked and there are surplus female players the pay gap is probably swinging in favour of the fairer sex. Or could it be that the governing body is exercising good governance?

Whatever it is, even better to see the investment in the youth national team and player development which has risen from $23.2m to $27.4m.

If only female soccer star Megan Rapinoe could casts aside her Trump Derangement Syndrome and sing the national anthem because she’s representing her country.

Not surprising to see own goals kicked by politicians who don’t look at the facts.

Perhaps the US women’s soccer team should address the pay gap between themselves first. Then once that is complete go after the blokes.

NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio joins the 2020 primaries

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio is running for the Democratic nomination for the 2020 presidential election. The NYPD think it’s a bad idea. Patrick J. Lynch, president of the Police Benevolent Association of the City of New York, issued a statement on Twitter,

After six years of disrespect for the police officers who keep our city safe, it’s perfectly clear how the mayor treats men and women in uniform. As commander-in-chief, he would be an unmitigated disaster

It is laughable that a mayor who has shown no interest in running New York City for six years now says he wants to mismanage the entire country,..

While the mayor of our nation’s largest city is busy running around Iowa and getting upstaged by the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, there are real problems here at home. New York City Police officers are continuing to suffer with wages 30% below market rate because the mayor has totally checked out of our contract process…”

Trump also weighed in saying de Blasio is considered the worst mayor in America.

How can the Democrats honestly think they have the right toolkit to fight 2020? De Blasio would have lost many Americans for his stunt to light up buildings to celebrate the passing of a late term abortion bill. All class.
