#CancelWhitePeople Sarah Jeong dumped by NYT

What irony that The NY Times finally came to the conclusion what the majority knew about potty mouthed Sarah Jeong, albeit 12 months too late. The picture above shows a selection of tweets before she was hired by NYT. Despite that, NYT defended her hire.

CM wrote back in August 2018,

“Was Jeong not aware that 8 of the 12 board of editors are currently white? Not that the board’s racial identity should have any bearing on disgraceful bigotry displayed by her.

The only point at stake here is whether The NY Times will defend and maintain consistent standards it would certainly hold if a white editor raged on about people of other colour. This isn’t a rally or #boycott (please no more boycotts) to get Jeong sacked. On the contrary. In free market thinking the question is whether The NY Times exercises rational judgement and sees that from a commercial perspective defending the indefensible might not be good for growing the business or encouraging a shrinking pool of paying advertisers to rent more space?

After the election of Trump, the newspaper changed its slogan to “The truth is more important now than ever.” For someone to espouse such bitter hatred so candidly in social media forums which have a half life of infinity, her truths are for all to see. The truth in The NY Times’ slogan is also on display.

How could The NY Times possibly hope to uphold the highest levels of ethics and moral high ground by defending her? In her press blurb the paper is effusive with praise citing, “Sarah has guided readers through the digital world with verve and erudition, staying ahead of every turn on the vast beat that is the internet.“ It is also quite telling that Twitter didn’t think she broke the very standards that would see conservative voices banned for far less offensive tweets.

CM wonders what the Harvard Law School has to say about its deeply talented alumni who served as Editor of the Journal of Law and Gender? Perhaps she just missed the ethics classes because she was too busy battling to make sure the correct pronouns were used in the articles on identity politics.”

Now the NYT has terminated her contract. Undoubtedly her contribution was as empty as her Twitter bile. She will now be a contributor, a rather large downgrade from being on the editorial board. She tweeted about the NYT paying attention to subscriber numbers, something the paper might have considered at the start.

Maybe her impact was one which didn’t ring the turnstiles at NYT. It is likely the same reason why The Guardian begs for charity instead of coming to terms with the fact that the content maybe the problem.

Note NYT is offering Aussies an 80% off subscription deal for a year.

There are more prostitutes in the US than CNN viewers

Forbes reports that Fox finished top of the ratings pops in 2Q 2019 for the 70th consecutive quarter. Nielsen noted that Fox has 7 of the top 10 cable news programs and 8 of the top 10 viewers in the 25-54yo segment. CNN slid 18% on 2Q 2018 and 38% in the 25-54 age bracket.

It led to Brent Bozell, president of the Media Resource Center, to state, “there are more prostitutes in the US than CNN viewers.”

Fox averaged 1.3m viewers throughout the day where CNN managed 541,000. In prime time Fox ended with 2.4m average vs CNN in 15th place on 761,000.

Just proves that if networks stick to their own biases without listening to the audience demands, this is what happens.

The Guardian cranks climate alarmism to 11

Good to see The Guardian editorial department encouraging the use of sensationalist language. Instead of climate change, “climate emergency, climate crisis and climate breakdown” should be used to describe the situation. “Global heating” is also the new norm as it sounds racier than warming. Why not use “global boiling”?

It is funny how language gets used to distort situations to fit a predetermined narrative. It is not so different to governments using consultancy firms to reverse engineer an answer they need in order to validate new spending or taxes. It’s a crock. That’s why so many public projects end up massively over budget and woefully underutilized.

It seems The Guardian has sought this divine inspiration from none other than the 16yo pig-tailed goddess of climate panic, Greta Thunberg. She has been using these words to crank up the guilt of we evil adults who are bankrupting her future. If we follow her wishes she’ll be assured of making her mates suffer indefinitely.

It doesn’t much matter. The Guardian is only making its ultimate audience even narrower than it was before. It is a sure fire way to see it having to continue to beg for charity. Appealing to those that expect everyone else to save the planet on their behalf will not attract advertisers or paying customers at anywhere the rate to sustain the alarmist stories.

Perhaps it should look at what is happening to CNN. The anti-Trump climate alarmist network has started lay-offs to stem the disastrous ratings plunge. How hilarious it was to learn CNN is shifting its NY offices by the shoreline of the Hudson River.

The Guardian should seek balance in its journalism as opposed to the echo chamber it has forced itself to live inside. Perhaps it best put flame retardant materials inside so the global heating it reports doesn’t lead to its extinction. The hot air it produces is the likely cause.

Your ABC – shocking inefficiency created by demotivated staff

While it might seem like another beat up on the ABC, we need to take a long hard look at how it operates. How is it TVNZ can operate as a self funded government entity which collects a currency adjusted 1/4 the ABC’s revenue on 1/8th staff? How many people actually understand their ABC?

Salary increases and budget increases have a 90.34% R-squared correlation meaning that budget increases tend to lead to paying higher salaries.

While some may talk about “good” content, sadly ABC’s ratings have slid considerably for over a decade in regional and metro areas. TVNZ’s have risen. So hard core left has the ABC shifted that it has created a narrower audience. The MD openly stated that if Australians wanted to protect the ABC they shouldn’t vote LNP. So much for respecting its charter which bans political bias.

TVNZ must cater to the free market for advertising dollars therefore content must meet the audience needs. It’s simple. ABC should follow suit.

Throwing more money at the ABC has not solved ratings problems. One guesses that diverting more tax dollars at kids programs that disparage white privilege, comedy shows that openly call conservative politicians “c*nts” during by-elections and producers that allows indigenous comedians to defecate on a white woman probably has a very narrow audience. Content IS the problem.

Look at The Guardian as case in point of journalism that fails to address market needs. It is free and in recent years gone cap in hand for donations because its user base aren’t prepared to stump up cash to support it. Do we need a public broadcaster to subsidize views of the left? The Guardian is simply competing in the “same” area as the ABC. ABC starves The Guardian of oxygen because we as taxpayers fully fund it. The ABC crowds out left leaning media.

Look no further than CNN. It has doubled, even trebled down on its unhinged bias. The ratings have plummeted. Fox on the other hand has risen. Whether one likes the content of Fox is irrelevant. Advertisers go there because the reach is self evident.

Moan all you want about Murdoch. His users pay and the ratings are up. Don’t shoot him if his product sells. Try self reflection. The Sydney Morning Herald tried to tell users its product was worth subscribing to. Unfortunately it ignored slumping readership and ended up being acquired by Nine Network. If you don’t cater to your audience, they won’t support you.

Staff levels at the ABC have never been higher. Ratings never been lower. Lifting the budget hasn’t caused any change. Cutting dollars will cause much needed restructuring. It is like feeding a dying patient with more morphine hoping to numb the pain. Unfortunately the body grows resistance to that. ABC staff feel this.

In the 2018 annual report, the ABC staff survey revealed engagement is at 46%, 6% below the previous survey. This puts in the bottom quartile of all ANZ businesses. #Reform desperately needed.

ABC staff complained that management doesn’t do enough to get rid of under-performers. Another clear signal that state-sponsored mediocrity is tolerated.

The culture of the organization won’t be turned around by management unless it is given a reality check of being rapidly withdrawn from the taxpayer teat. That way the c.70% of staff dedicated to content can finally listen to what the broader public want to consume rather than the echo chamber they live in. By the way, those who love the ABC needn’t worry. The limited number of good programs will stay if the audiences demand them. The unhinged radical left programming can be cut with little loss to anyone with a modicum of intelligence.

Climate alarmist CNN moves by the waterfront

Despite the constant preaching about global warming and rising sea levels, CNN is moving to Hudson Yards on the waterfront in NYC. Have the network’s horrible slide in ratings, mass lay-offs and crimped profitability meant it needs to seek rock bottom rental prices? What a reprehensible organization to put current employees in harm’s way!

Scandal-less or Scandalous?

President Obama is often hailed by the left as having a blemish free record. No scandals. Good, clean and wholesome. However a CNN poll has revealed that,

69% think Congress ought to investigate the origins of the Justice Department’s inquiry into Russian interference in the 2016 election, including 76% of Democrats, 69% of independents and 62% of Republicans.

Should we be surprised that the American people want answers to the Steele dossier? The FISA court approval of the wiretap? Did Obama know? If so, when did he know it? Many are questioning the spying conducted on the Trump 2016 campaign.

How ironic that 2020 hopeful Joe Biden is not asking for an endorsement from Obama, his former bromance partner. Maybe he feels he will be tainted by an investigation which involves his old boss.

CNN ranks 15th last week

According to the latest Nielsen ratings, Fox News grabbed #1 slot for viewers, followed by MSNBC, HGTV, USA Network & TBS. CNN scored 15th spot, behind networks like The Discovery Channel, Food Network, TLC, and A&E.

From April 8-12, CNN only averaged 690,000 people and 180,000 in the key 25-54 age demographic.

This is what happens when people “tune out”. Perhaps the reality is that too many CNN viewers think everything is a rerun because even new news can be mistaken for being old news played on a loop on CNN. Did you know they can’t stand President Trump?
