After watching numerous sessions of Canadian Parliament one wonders how PM Justin Trudeau stands a chance of winning again in 2020. His opposition, in the form of Rona Ambrose, eats him alive every time causing the Prime Minister to respond by avoiding simple YES or NO answers with empty rhetoric, identity politics and countless ‘umm’s’ and ‘ahhs’. Take Ambrose’s latest attempt to get the Liberals to commit to endorse training for the judiciary to better handle cases involving rape and sexual assault. True to form the PM dodges the question asked and talks of waiting for advice from his quangos and boasting about more women judges since he took office in an attempt to assume female judges would understand rape better than male judges. What an insult!
To assume a female judge will give female victims of sexual violence a better hearing is plain stupid. The judiciary is supposed to have judges who are above gender, race or religion. That’s why we have laws in the first place. To assert that female judges would put personal gender prejudices above their sworn duty is preposterous. The same is true for male judges. Or LGBTI judges or any judge. Once again identity politics is at the forefront and Trudeau shows himself to be more feminist than the feminists themselves.
YouTube is littered with Ambrose vs Trudeau and the nervousness in his voice each time shows how uncomfortable he is. The only one not seeing it is himself. Canadians may have been sick of Stephen Harper but take a look for yourself and see who looks more like a leader. A hint – it isn’t the Prime Minister.
